What do Geometry and Kite Flying Have in Common? Mrs. Montemerlo's Class Knows!

Girls learned about congruent polygons and triangles, special segments, quadrilaterals, area, similar polygons and triangles, right triangles and circles — by constructing their own kites!

What do you do on a nice breezy spring date? ... You fly a kite!

Students in Mercy High School's Mrs. Montemerlo’s geometry class had to use their knowledge of similar geometric figures to build their hexagonal sled kites. They had to choose a scale larger than the given pattern kite, carefully construct and decorate their kite, and last but not least show their teacher that their kites could actually fly.
