My name is Madeline Keane and I am freshman at Wesleyan University in Middletown on the Women's soccer team. I am from Newtown and this post is in regards to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Having such a tragedy happen in my home town has made me want to help by reaching out to the Wesleyan community of students and faculty.
There is a support group called The Sandy Hook Promise that was founded by a group of Newtown citizens who felt compelled to honor the children and faculty that were murdered.
They have "promised" to "choose love, belief and hope instead of anger," an admirable reaction, which I want to rest of the world to promote. The Sandy Hook Promise has made the conscious decision to not have a political stance in relation to mental health awareness and gun related violence.
