If only life could be like what it's like in certain songs. Maybe it is for others. I don't know.
You know how it is: you have work to do. Or there is laundry to do. Or there are errands to run. And all the while you are thinking that this is NOT how life is meant to be lived. And then you think of, say, everyone in Italy, forever milling about on the piazza and wonder to yourself, How did this become my life and why am I not sitting at the cafe right about now overlooking whatever that famous square is named in Venice ....... yes, just remembered it — St. Mark's Square.
THAT is where I need to be RIGHT NOW! With a big sun hat on and sunglasses drinking wine and eating cheese and decadent pastries.
Yes, with all those thoughts swirling about in my head, I am thinking of Romeo's Tune. Always loved that song. Because it captures perfectly how life SHOULD be lived. For all of us and by all of us.
Also, a footnote on the song — I know Keith Urban covered it and did a great job. And he is lovely to look at — so ruggedly handsome. But I prefer the original. Steve Forbert's raspy voice is spot-on perfect.
Enjoy!
