TRIAD Joins the Kids Health & Safety Day with A Senior Health Fair!

Middletown TRIAD hosts its first Health Fair in conjunction with the Kids Health & Safety Fair.

The rain may have caused the crowds to get a late start today, but it didn't stop them from coming out to the Kids Health & Safety Day on Main Street and stopping by TRIAD's Health Fair in the Police Department's Community Room.  This is the first year that TRIAD hosted a Health Fair geared to older adults in the community, and I was pleasantly surprised, given its infancy, that so many had stopped by to see what resources, information, and activities were available.

TRIAD is a partnership of law enforcement, business/community organizations and seniors working together to address the safety issues and concerns of seniors in the community.  The group welcomes Middletown seniors to attend their meetings, held the 2nd Mondays of the month in the Middletown Police Deptartment's Community Room at 2pm.

A special thank you to Liberty Bank for their sponsorship!  TRIAD would also like to thank Bob Michael with Tranquil Mountain Internal Arts for volunteering to host Tai Chi demonstrations; Middlesex Hospital Outpatient Center, Middlesex Hospital Rehabilitation Services, as well as Middlesex Hospital Homecare for providing different health screenings.  Other vendors included Rushford, The Day Club, St. Lukes's Eldercare Services, the Middletown Police Dept and Middlesex Hospital Center for Chronic Disease.   Oh, and I was there as well, not only as a member of TRIAD but representing Water's Edge Center for Health & Rehabilitation to host a "healthy cooking demo." (It is true that one of my dreams is to be on Food Network).

Non-perishable food donations were also collected for Amazing Grace Food Pantry.  In speaking with the ladies at their booth, I found out the pantry is very low on tuna, a main stock item for their clients.  Please consider stopping by Amazing Grace with cans of tuna to help restock their shelves!

One thing was clearly evident today.  The Middletown businesses and organizations really do work together for the better of the community.   I see this all the time not only in my own work environment, but in the organizations in which I am a volunteer.   Special recognitions need to go out to all members of the Middletown TRIAD that really made the Senior Fair a success including Lieutenant Heather Desmond and Officer William Warner with Middletown Police Dept, Catherine Rees, Manager of Community Benefit with Middlesex Hospital,  and Ed Dypa.
