Suggestions for your New Year’s Resolution

Just in case you are still on the lookout for a good New Year’s Resolution, I thought I would help you out with a few suggestions.

Just in case you are still on the lookout for a good New Year’s Resolution, I thought I would help you out with a few suggestions. Some of these are harder to keep than others, but I figured I better throw in a few easy ones so we have a chance at sticking with it.

“I will support a cause that I believe in.”

It’s easier than it sounds. At United Way, we believe education, income and health and housing are the building blocks of a good life. What cause is important to you?

“I will find what that smell is in the office fridge.”

Seriously. Can someone get working on this? I really hope someone picks this as their resolution so I don’t have to do it.

“I will spend less time on Facebook.”

You probably should. That thing will take over your life. But in case you already installed and reinstalled the app on your phone six times, just go ahead and “like” Middlesex United Way. Then, at least you can use the time you spend on Facebook learning about the great things happening in our community. You will find us at Facebook.com/middlesexunitedway.

“I will cut back on my visits to Fusion Bakery.”

Mmm, Fusion. We share a building with Fusion, and it smells like pastries in our hallway. And cake. Be back in five minutes. Guys, don’t judge me. It’s important to shop local.

 “I will take up volunteering.”

If you are interested in volunteering, we have many opportunities, including serving on our education, income, health and housing committees; volunteering with the Young Leaders Society; or joining the Women’s Initiative. I encourage you to browse through our website for these and other opportunities. Just visit middlesexunitedway.org and click on “volunteer.”

“I will call Kevin and tell him how much I love his column.”

Aww, thanks. You can also tweet me @kevinliveunited.

“I will stop making New Year’s Resolutions.”

Nahhh, this is too much fun.

Happy New Year everyone!
