In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and with winter right around the corner, it is a good time to remind ourselves of the resources we have locally.
At Middlesex United Way, we are proud to support United Way 2-1-1, which handled more than 5,800 storm-related calls and responded to more than 8,200 requests for services in the aftermath of Winter Storm Alfred last October.
You can reach United Way 2-1-1 by simply dialing 2-1-1 any time day or night. United Way 2-1-1 also maintains a resource list on its website at 211ct.org, and during severe storms, you can find information on shelters and warming stations, open gas stations and pharmacies, drinking water advisories, and storm safety information.
When we have long-term power outages, we hear more and more about generators.
