Stay Safe This Storm Season

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and with winter right around the corner, it is a good time to remind ourselves of the resources we have locally.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and with winter right around the corner, it is a good time to remind ourselves of the resources we have locally.

At Middlesex United Way, we are proud to support United Way 2-1-1, which handled more than 5,800 storm-related calls and responded to more than 8,200 requests for services in the aftermath of Winter Storm Alfred last October.

You can reach United Way 2-1-1 by simply dialing 2-1-1 any time day or night. United Way 2-1-1 also maintains a resource list on its website at 211ct.org, and during severe storms, you can find information on shelters and warming stations, open gas stations and pharmacies, drinking water advisories, and storm safety information.

When we have long-term power outages, we hear more and more about generators. If you are considering the purchase of a generator this year to protect yourself in case of power outage, L-Train Electric LLC in Portland is offering to donate a portion of generator sales to Middlesex United Way. From each sale of a standby generator at MSRP, they will donate $100 to Middlesex United Way. For each full installation, including the purchase of a standby generator, at MSRP, L-Train Electric LLC will donate $250 to Middlesex United Way.

This is one way that a local business has found a creative way to support United Way and the community. If you were considering purchasing a generator anyway, call L-Train Electric LLC for an estimate, and you’ll be supporting a local business and United Way all at once. Be sure to mention “United Way” when you call. For more information about L-Train Electric LLC, visit l-traingenerators.com or call (860) 343-1797.

Please stay safe this storm season! LIVE UNITED!
