You may have heard of United Way’s call to action: “Give. Advocate. Volunteer. Live United.”
But how about this one: “Those who scuba united, Live United.”
Ok, I just made that up. But in the case of Gary and Pat Gomola, it’s true.
If you have been reading this blog, you already know that Gary Gomola is serving as Middlesex United Way’s 2012-13 campaign chair, but just in case we haven’t given him enough of a hard time this year, we have a little something up our sleeves for the Gomolas.
On Oct. 18, Gary and Pat Gomola will be the subjects of our second annual Middlesex United Way Leadership Circle “Roast.” It will be an evening full of laughter, lighthearted fun—and some scuba-themed shenanigans. You see, Gary and Pat are avid scuba divers and met through their love of diving. We didn’t have to swim too far to find several celebrity roasters who will share their fish tales about them.
The Gomolas also Live United through their extensive involvement in the community and by supporting United Way as members of our Leadership Circle, which recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more to Middlesex United Way annually. Their support will extend even beyond their lifetime since they have each agreed to make a planned gift. Now these are people who not only Live United, they are willing to die united. You can’t ask for more devotion and caring than that.
If you know Pat or Gary, or both of them—or even if you don’t— I hope you will join us Thursday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Inn at Middletown. The evening includes hors d’oeuvres and dinner (of course, there is a fish option on the menu) with a cash bar. Suggested donation is $50, and any donations that exceed the ticket price benefit Middlesex United Way's work to advance the common good in Middlesex County in education, income, health and housing. You can R.S.V.P. by calling us at (860) 346-8695.
Thank you to our event sponsors Liberty Bank and Mahoney Sabol & Company, LLP.
We hope you will dive in and join us! Scuba gear is, of course, optional.
Live United!
