New Year's Day 2014 Weather and Holiday Closings

Snow is in the forecast for Thursday into Friday.

There is big snowfall in the forecast for the end of the week, according to Meteorologist Matt Scott, who says for Thursday and Friday on Facebook: "Plan for a big shoveler, in the 6-12" range. This may be adjusted (and likely will be). As of now, NO watches or warnings posted. This will DEFINITELY change."

Here's a list of Middletown establishments and whether they will be open or closed on New Year's Day: 

  • Banks: Closed
  • Recycling and Transfer Station: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Russell Library: Closed
  • Restaurants: Open at owners' discretion
  • Retail stores: Open at owners' discretion
  • Liquor stores: Open
  • Post Office: Closed
  • Gas stations: Open
  • Metro Movies 12: Open
  • Supermarkets: Price Chopper, New Years Eve until 10 p.m., New Year's Day, 6 a.m. to midnight. Stop & Shop until 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
