Opening Reception and Gallery Talk for “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” Exhibition
The excitement of speed and the metaphor of the machine join in images of airplanes, trains, and automobiles. The “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”exhibition includes William Henry Jackson’s 19th-century celebrations of the railroad in the American West, Jacques Henri Lartigue’s action shots of early French automobile races, and the abandoned Ford cars of Robert Sheehan. Drawn from the permanent collection of the Davison Art Center, the exhibition will also feature photographs by Berenice Abbott, Danny Lyon, Walker Evans, Louis Faurer, and Garry Winogrand. There will be a gallery talk at 5:30pm by curator Clare Rogan.
