On May 14, Cuban history expert and Middlesex Community College professor Victor Triay, Ph.D will appear at the Jean Burr Smith Library at MxCC in Middletown at 6:45 p.m. where he will discuss his new novel “Freedom Betrayed” and sign books. “Freedom Betrayed” is the second installment of “The Unbroken Circle” series, which is set during the early years of the Cuban Revolution. Triay’s parents left Cuba after the rise of Fidel Castro, so the subject is personal to him – and has inspired him to devote his time and talents towards researching, writing and lecturing on the topic. He has published three non-fiction books on Cuban exile history, one of which, “Bay of Pigs,” won the Samuel Proctor Oral History Prize in 2001.
