Middletown Sacred Harp Singing group live on WESU's Acoustic Blender

"Sacred Harp singing is a tradition of sacred choral music that took root in the Southern region of the United States. It is part of the larger tradition of shape note music. Sacred Harp music is performed a cappella (voice only, without instruments) and originated as Protestant Christian music. The songs sung are primarily from the book The Sacred Harp." - Wikipedia

This kind of music is not something one will normally ever hear on the radio, but Tuesday evening, the Middletown Sacred Harp Singing group will be live in the studio on WESU's "Acoustic Blender." Tune in at 6:30p.m. and join host Bill Revill along with the Middletown Sacred Harp Singing group in a live performance of this uniquely American music form.

Here's trailer for the film "Awake, My Soul: The Story of the Sacred Harp" for a preview of the sound.

You can follow "Acoustic Blender" which airs weekly Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. on Facebook.
