Artist Marie Burkitt will show her paintings in December at Russell Library, 123 Broad Street, Middletown. Music was her first love; she taught guitar, banjo and mandolin for thirty five years in the Ansonia area. In 2004, she began to study pastel drawing and then tried painting with acrylics and now works in oil. Ms. Burkitt moved to Middletown after her husband passed away and continued to study painting with the Meriden and Middletown Senior art classes. She became active in the Middletown Art Guild and has exhibited widely. She says of her work: “I feel so blessed! That at age seventy, I can find painting so relaxing--- and fun. I thank God everyday for being able to paint.”
