Blues Dance Workshops

Jan Marie is back for three more fabulous blues workshops!

Full-day (3 classes) - $30 pre-reg, $40 at the door
Per class - $15 each at the door

1-2pm Tighten Up & Fine Tune

This class will focus on getting more precision with our blues fundamentals. We'll workshop a variety of common partnered movements and analyze together exactly where our weight should be, how much tension we should be giving our partners, where our energy/momentum should be starting from, and more. Students will be asked to participate in both leading and following all movements, to better understand the importance of the precise changes we'll be making to improve our fundamentals.

2:15-3:15 Leave The Robot At The Prom

Now that you have a better understanding of your own mechanisms and movements, let's learn to make them a little less robotic, and a lot more musical! We'll discuss common blues music forms and arrangements, and learn to apply our movements musically, as well as how to build them together to create a well-rounded dance story.

3:30-4:30 Go On Wit Yo' Bad Self: Solo For The Soul

The goal of this class is to get you comfortable moving without the comfort of your partner's hand... but that doesn't mean you won't be partnering up! We'll cover the fundamentals of call & response blues dancing, then work in basic solo movements to have you riffing off your partner in new and even more expressive ways.

4:30-5pm Open practice and feedback time

And don't forget our monthly Blues Dance the night before on Friday, Nov. 9! We'll have two awesome classes before the dance from 7-9pm, and then great dancing from 9-12!
