Bernard Cooper’s many honors include the PEN/Ernest Hemingway Award, an O. Henry Prize, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is the author of three memoirs–The Bill from My Father, Truth Serum, and Maps to Anywhere–as well as a novel, A Year of Rhymes, and a collection of stories, Guess Again. His writing has appeared in Harper’s, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review, and five volumes of The Best American Essays. In addition, his work has been read on Public Radio’s This American Life and Selected Shorts.
