4th Friday at the Arts Cafe

October's
"4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe" highlights Hugh Blumenfeld on Friday,
October 25, 2013 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the Marlborough Arts Center, 231 North
Main Street. Marlborough, CT.

Hugh
Blumenfeld is a folk singer-songwriter of note, born in Queens, NY but now
residing in Connecticut, who has played throughout Europe and the USA. The LA
Weekly described him as "a folk sensation" while the Boston Globe
notes he "is full of poetry and passion". His musical career includes
playing in the Greenwich Village music scene of the dynamic 1980's at Speak
Easy, Folk City, Cornelia Street Cafe and Bottom Line. He has also opened for
well-known stars among whom are Suzanne Vega, Richie Hairns, Dan Williams, Arlo
Guthrie and Bill Morrissey. He is the long-time Contributing and Associate
Editor of Fast Folk Musical Magazine, is part of the Smithsonian Folkway
Collection, backed up the Kerriville Folk Festival, closed the Falcon Ridge
Folk Festival, and played the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage Series in Washington
DC. His 7th CD, "Dad", has recently been released. He was also
Connecticut's State Troubadour from 1999-2000.

His
extremely productive life includes being a published poet and an ex-English
Professor, making his lyrics very special indeed from folk ballads to political
satire. Along with all of this, he is a practicing family physician in Hartford
following his interest in the healing powers of music and hospital research he
conducted on the positive effects of mothers singing to their premature infants.
