" Suddenly Sicilian" Paintings of Melilli & Eastern Sicily by Artist Donna Dubreuil Favreau

I always thought I was a little French Canadian girl until I was 6 years old! Then we moved to Middletown! I found out that I was "Suddenly Sicilian!"
This exhibit features paintings from my pilgrimage to Melilli, Sicily to see the hometown of my great grandparents.  My great-grandfather, Sebastian G. Marchese, was an artist and sculptor.  He created the statue of St. Sebastian which is carried through the streets of Middletown during the St. Sebastian festival. He was also one of the originators of the festival that began on Ferry Street. I saw an ancient, stunning, sun drenched town perched high on a mountain overlooking farmland, refineries and the Ionian Sea.
If you are curious about the homeland of your relatives, this is a great way to view a few glimpses of your past.  This body of work has grown from one or two paintings, to an obsession. There may be many more to come!
