Jon Sideriadis will be demonstrating his Fantasy Art and mythological storytelling techniques at The Art Guild of Middletown meeting onApril 10th from 7 pm to 9 pm. This event will be held at The Middlefield Federated Church, 402 Main Street, Middlefield, Ct. It is free for members. $5 for nonmembers.

Jon has been a professional freelance illustrator, an author, and a university instructor for several years. His specialty is science fiction & fantasy art and mythological storytelling. He teaches illustration, mythology, and graphic novel creation at the University of Hartford. Jon’s work has been published in film, television, video games, novels, comics, board games, and trading cards. He is currently writing and illustrating an original mythology called Astromythos. It is a series of books containing new myths from the end of time. Jon received his bachelor’s degree in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, and his master’s in illustration at the Hartford Art School’s Limited Residency MFA in Illustration Program under the direction of Murray Tinkelman.

Inspirations for Jon have been numerous: Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare, Homer, All mythologies, Astrophysics, Ancient and Medieval History, Biology, Gustave Dore, John Bauer, Brian Froud, George Lucas, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Federico Garcia Lorca, Leonardo da Vinci, Archimedes, Isaac Newton, John Milton, Elias Lonnrot, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Hector Berlioz, Jean Sebelius, Edvard Grieg, Death Metal, Joseph Campbell, J.R.R. Tolkien, Edgar Alan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Orson Scott Card, Hieronymus Bosch, Edmund Dulac, Arthur Rackham, Oliver Ledroit, Jean Giraud.
