Meet Carl Chisem: Democratic Candidate for Common Council

Meet the Working Families-endorsed Middletown Planning and Zoning Commissioner, a lifelong resident who's running for common council in November.

Middletown Planning and Zoning Commissioner Carl R. Chisem, 51, is on the Democratic ticket as a common council candidate.

Why do you want to hold public office in Middletown? I have lived in Middletown all my life and have always been a civil servant and enjoy working with the community I live in.

What experience do you bring to the table? I have served on the zoning board of appeals, Harbor Park agency, citizens advisory committee, planning and zoning commission, the mayor's task force on efficiency in government and the Veterans Memorial Park Renovation committee.

What do you love most about Middletown? I love to see Middletown continue to grow and move forward in the right direction.

What do you think the town's most pressing issue is? The parking downtown

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy riding my motorcycle with friends and love teaching motorcycle riding in the summer for the State of Connecticut.
