Being a Senior is Not so Bad!

Welcome our newest blogger — Eleanor Tomaszewski.

Hello all,

My name is Eleanor Tomaszewski, mother of Lea Tomaszewski. You may recognize my daughter as a frequent writer here on The Middletown Patch website. I have read many of my daughter's blog posts, if not all of them, and I am constantly impressed and extremely proud of her writing ability.

Read Lea's posts here.

Her wit and choice of subject matter are a constant source of extreme amazement and motherly pride. I am forever telling Lea that she should really write a book. And maybe one day she will heed my advice.

I do have other children who I am equally proud of. Each in their own way has made me extremely proud of them and their life's work. Charles, my first born, is a rural letter carrier in Haddam. Paula, my oldest daughter, is an attorney in Savannah, Georgia. Linda, my second daughter, is a retired former manager at American Airlines in Chicago. Edward, my second son, works for the Department of Corrections.

My husband Henry (Hank) and I owned and operated a pharmacy in Haddam for many years. My husband passed away 25 years ago and I became very active in senior affairs in Haddam, organizing trips for Haddam Club 60.

Being a senior is not so bad. Look at all the perks we now receive: we get senior discounts, we're treated with the highest respect, we enjoy life and we're having the time of our life!

So to all you young whippersnappers — enjoy your life. Today you may be 18, but by time you turn around, you will be a senior!

To the future!

Eleanor
