The Gorski Family has won $500 toward its December electric bill and is one of only 24 Patch Deck the House contest entrants in the running for a huge prize.

Our neighboring Patch to the south, Killingworth-Durham-Middlefield Patch, has a reader who won $500 toward its December lighting bill. The Gorski Family of Wolf Hollow Lane, Killingworth, is still in the running for the $100,000 grand prize for Regional School District 17, which includes Haddam, public schools.

The real prize is up to you: Vote for the Gorskis at the national “Deck the House” contest site between now and Jan. 8 at 11:59 p.m. You can cast up to one vote per day, so remember to come back each morning through next Sunday.

For the Gorskis, the annual display of Christmas lights, which is sponsored by the Killingworth Women’s Organization, is a labor of love that benefits local charities. On opening night, Dec. 10, families explored the festive light display and visited with Santa, played reindeer mini-golf, enjoyed homemade cookies and hot cocoa and listened to live music.
