Presidents' Day: What's Open, Closed in Middletown

Monday is a federal holiday in honor of the nation's first president, George Washington, sometimes called "Presidents' Day." Here's a starter list of what's open and closed in town.

What's Closed

Local

  • Town Hall— Strictly speaking, Monday is known as Washington's Birthday (though the great man was born Feb. 22), and has only become known as "Presidents' Day" more recently to also ecompass Abraham Lincon's Feb. 12 birthday (in Connecticut, a state holiday).
  • Russell Library is closed for Presidents' Day.
  • Middletown Post Office—There will be no mail delivered or sent Monday.
  • Middletown Public Schools—No school Monday due to the holiday, but open the rest of the week.

State & Region

  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles customer services offices will close at 12:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and will be closed Monday.
