Is Your Man Cave Ready for Super Bowl 46?

With Super Bowl 46 just days away, it may be time to consider the merits of a Man Cave. New homes are being built with finished basements

With Super Bowl XLVI just days away, it may be time to consider the merits of a Man Cave. New homes are increasingly being built with finished basements and bonus rooms (can someone please come up with a better name for a bonus room?) and older homes are being remodeled to accommodate man caves by finishing off basements and garages and even tapping into unfinished space over the garage.

While a man cave needn’t be a room carved out of rock, it can be any room in the house or in an outbuilding that provides a mantuary or manspace for the male or males who live there.

The sacred man cave is off limits to the female and her influences, and should remain a place where a man’s decorating tastes, or lack there of (sorry fellas!), can reign supreme.

The nice thing about a man cave is that it provides a place for a man to let it all hang out. Whether the man cave offers an escape to play video games, watch sports, pump iron, indulge in a hobby, or hang out with other males, it is always an ESCAPE. Afterall, who couldn't use an escape.

For some historical perspective, check out Mark Twain’s billiards room and Thomas Edison’s library and you’ll understand why great men have always needed a place of their own. To view examples of famous man caves, link to The Art of Manliness.

Although man caves aren’t a new idea, twenty-first century men are able to harness the latest and greatest technology, enjoying frighteningly realistic and interactive video play and high definition media viewing with the ability to stream millions of programming options onto giant screens with surround sound.

Take a look at the four listings below featuring bonus lower level square footage that is finished. The sky is the limit when it comes to how best use these spaces, but I know few men who wouldn't relish the freedom of their own man cave.
