Editor's Note: This is in reaction to the Middletown Insider blog post of April 13, titled, "Something to Talk About!"
I do want to talk about the three images run under the headline, "Liberal Logic 101." This is my response.
The Middletown Insider posted three images that reflect the blog's ideology. The Insider says, "I am always amazed at the logic of most of the country's liberals, here are some photos to spark discussion."
I am amazed allright. And not surprised that the Insider posts anonymously.
Here, I examine each of the three side-by-side "Democrats" and "Republicans" photos and their captions.
Joe Biden vs. Herman Cain
Please point out which Democratic leaders would ever say such a thing? Thinking blacks are incapable of achieving anything without whites? Radical Republican supporters hate Obama merely because of the color of his skin (same people who think he's Muslim and not a legal citizen). I think this image is an attempt to damage control the hatred that comes from the extreme right.
The reality is in order to achieve anything you need help from people. No matter if they are white or black ... all just people.
Barack Obama vs. Dan Quayle
So your experience as a senator justifies a righteous hierarchy to be voted into a specific public office. This photo and statement is just ridiculous. If however you wanted to play like that then what accomplishments did Sarah Palin have that granted her the experience to be vice president?
Reality is, it's the qualities that the person holds. If Americans agree with those qualities, that determines who is voted into office. You can see this in the republican primary as we speak. The word "quality" doesn't fit any of the republican candidates except for one... Ron Paul.
Sandra Fluke vs. Sarah Palin
Sandra Fluke at a hearing on women’s reproductive health and contraception before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee held on Feb. 23 represented not only herself but many women.
You clearly haven't bothered to read an article about Fluke’s testimony, in which she discussed her friend and her friend’s medical condition, and how her friend couldn’t afford the medication that could have saved her ovary.
“A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome, and she has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries. Her prescription is technically covered by Georgetown’s insurance because it’s not intended to prevent pregnancy."
“Unfortunately, under many religious institutions and insurance plans, it wouldn’t be. There would be no exception for other medical needs. And under Sen. Blunt’s amendment, Sen. Rubio’s bill or Rep. Fortenberry’s bill there’s no requirement that such an exception be made for these medical needs."
So, freedom of choice and reproductive rights aside, this woman talked about her friend’s ultimately tragic medical condition and ended up being called a slut and a prostitute who should make porn.
Sarah Palin isn't a slut. Though I do have other colorful words to describe her.
Posts like these that fabricate truth to support their failing agenda is what really annoys me. If you see something like this, research what that message is sending and see for yourself what that "message" may be trying to hide.
One thing I do find amusing is that ALL of these opinionated images, clearly republican generated, show exactly how out of touch SOME Republican supporters can be.
Agree with me one day, and disagree with me on the next is OK with me. I will always remain open minded and consider your point of view.
So Bob.. what are you thoughts on the posts that the Insider advocates.?
"Wayne Winsley You are correct. All parties have it. I'd like to think that I lean toward a more common sense approach to discussing our differences. Now in terms of the images in the article. The Biden Cain photos do contain a particle of truth which has been magnified for impact. The Obama Quayle pics I disagree with because experience is a relative thing and open to many interpretations. I have no elected political experience yet I have spent nearly two decades listening to Connecticut voters discuss issues of concern to them. In that sense I have more experience than many currently serving in both House and Senate. The third set of images don't rate a comment in my opinion."
Besides the FACT he has been "a committed Christian. He was sworn into the Senate on his family Bible. He has regularly attended church with his wife and daughters for years." You think he is a secret Muslim spy in the making 20 YEARS ago???
Explain how he obtained office fraudulently? The same way Bush won the Presidency when he didn't win the popular vote? So you disagree with each of the images posted on the Insider except the one about Obama's legitimacy/experience?
Time to ignore Darrell the attention seeker.
I read the article you posted and it was very interesting. Suing for no money just for an apology from the "head" of the democratic party. First, the United States has apologized for slavery. And second, if you do a quick history check you will see that the ideology of the parties have changed since 1792 until now. Democrats in the south would be considers today as republicans. Democrats in the south became Dixiecrats and then just became Republicans. Don't take my word for it research it for yourself. And as for me being an attention seeker well I am flattered. But I would rather you direct your attention to the subject matter I have posted. To which you haven't addressed.
Any "Republican" that feels that way is in the wrong party and we'll gladly show them the door. The Democrats are the party of the KKK.
I would suggest that the Middletown Patch has a problem.
You spout off online but have you ever applied yourself in person to a real cause? There was a Republican Straw Poll in Middletown last week with over 60 Conservatives in attendance - open to the public- you could have easily gone and had open season on the candidates yourself - and "taken them down" as you say- but alas, you stay fixed. Go to a Council Meeting praise those Democrats who you support and voted for!
You dont want to see 'the problem' your party has my friend. After the year Johnson signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act. No Republican presidential candidate has gotten more than 15 percent of the black vote since.
On Wednesday evening at the council budget hearing the board of eduction talked about their budget and councilman Serra talked about a a two mill increase if they get the budget they want. why not report about that since it affects the entire community. No instead you keep waiting for a response from those who run the Middletown insider. If I was them I would ignore you as it seems to get you more upset each and everyday. I for one enjoy watching you on the blog here getting frustrated by there non response from them.
No response equals cowardliness or they know they are wrong. And OH I am Not upset. In fact I am quite please that such a well spoken blog.. that I enjoy reading is speechless. AND Wm Wallace Welcome to Patch. You are the third commenter on my blog that has NEVER commented before.!! wow. You could be the same person for all I know. So now you dont care that I vote republican.. Well thats great you are loosing legitimacy altogether.. Are you a real person? I bet no. Shake my hand on the 26th and say HI. I know you wont because you are another "drone". You aren't a real Patch commenter. Just another COPY of the same person I have been talking to. I love you... :-)
He is my question to you. Why would you call out another blog when you are writing on this blog? Seems counter productive if you ask me.
