Middletown Insider Blog Advocates Ignorant Hate

A local blog posts some hateful images to stir discussion. I bring on the discussion. And so should you.

Editor's Note: This is in reaction to the Middletown Insider blog post of April 13, titled, "Something to Talk About!"

I do want to talk about the three images run under the headline, "Liberal Logic 101." This is my response.

The Middletown Insider posted three images that reflect the blog's ideology. The Insider says, "I am always amazed at the logic of most of the country's liberals, here are some photos to spark discussion."

I am amazed allright. And not surprised that the Insider posts anonymously.

Here, I examine each of the three side-by-side "Democrats" and "Republicans" photos and their captions.

Joe Biden vs. Herman Cain

Please point out which Democratic leaders would ever say such a thing? Thinking blacks are incapable of achieving anything without whites? Radical Republican supporters hate Obama merely because of the color of his skin (same people who think he's Muslim and not a legal citizen). I think this image is an attempt to damage control the hatred that comes from the extreme right.

The reality is in order to achieve anything you need help from people. No matter if they are white or black ... all just people.

Barack Obama vs. Dan Quayle

So your experience as a senator justifies a righteous hierarchy to be voted into a specific public office. This photo and statement is just ridiculous. If however you wanted to play like that then what accomplishments did Sarah Palin have that granted her the experience to be vice president?

Reality is, it's the qualities that the person holds. If Americans agree with those qualities, that determines who is voted into office. You can see this in the republican primary as we speak. The word "quality" doesn't fit any of the republican candidates except for one... Ron Paul.

Sandra Fluke vs. Sarah Palin

Sandra Fluke at a hearing on women’s reproductive health and contraception before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee held on Feb. 23 represented not only herself but many women.

You clearly haven't bothered to read an article about Fluke’s testimony, in which she discussed her friend and her friend’s medical condition, and how her friend couldn’t afford the medication that could have saved her ovary.

“A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome, and she has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries. Her prescription is technically covered by Georgetown’s insurance because it’s not intended to prevent pregnancy."

“Unfortunately, under many religious institutions and insurance plans, it wouldn’t be. There would be no exception for other medical needs. And under Sen. Blunt’s amendment, Sen. Rubio’s bill or Rep. Fortenberry’s bill there’s no requirement that such an exception be made for these medical needs."

So, freedom of choice and reproductive rights aside, this woman talked about her friend’s ultimately tragic medical condition and ended up being called a slut and a prostitute who should make porn.

Sarah Palin isn't a slut. Though I do have other colorful words to describe her.

Posts like these that fabricate truth to support their failing agenda is what really annoys me.  If you see something like this, research what that message is sending and see for yourself what that "message" may be trying to hide.

One thing I do find amusing is that ALL of these opinionated images, clearly republican generated, show exactly how out of touch SOME Republican supporters can be.

What Republicans hate Obama because he is Black? Actually, half-Black. He is also half-Irish Caucasion. Darrell, when you make those kind of sweeping statements it really doesn't make you sound very intelligent. Generally, I like to read your posts except when you start to sound like Al Sharpton.
Darrell Lucas April 16, 2012 at 08:15 PM
I understand that Obama is mixed race. What I am referring to is that some Republican supporters make it no secret that they dislike him because of his race. Agree with me one day, and disagree with me on the next is OK with me. I will always remain open minded and consider your point of view.
Bob April 18, 2012 at 01:16 AM
This blog exposed the underfunding of the pension plan that will leave employees without any recourse when they retire and the ridiculous trip YOUR mayor Dan Drew took to CHINA on our dime! Hateful Darrell? HEROIC more like it!
Darrell Lucas April 18, 2012 at 01:31 AM
mmm Mr.Bob, your getting off the topic. I do appreciate the attention the Middletown Insider pays to our local politics. But they dislike Dan for spending a few thousand to seek out opportunities for Middletown but the Insider is SILENT when Dan Drew announced that the city has re-negotiated a service contract with Honeywell, which will save taxpayers more than $127,000 in the first year — $1.4 million over the next 15 years. ... all i hear is crickets from the Insider. So Bob.. what are you thoughts on the posts that the Insider advocates.?
Darrell Lucas April 18, 2012 at 01:35 AM
Quote from Wayne Winsley (Candidate for U.S. Congress- CT 03) after I sent him this blog. I asked 'What do you think about this Radical Republican rhetoric? All parties have it..' "Wayne Winsley You are correct. All parties have it. I'd like to think that I lean toward a more common sense approach to discussing our differences. Now in terms of the images in the article. The Biden Cain photos do contain a particle of truth which has been magnified for impact. The Obama Quayle pics I disagree with because experience is a relative thing and open to many interpretations. I have no elected political experience yet I have spent nearly two decades listening to Connecticut voters discuss issues of concern to them. In that sense I have more experience than many currently serving in both House and Senate. The third set of images don't rate a comment in my opinion."

Dear Darrell, As a conservative, and a Republican for purposes of voting, I do not hate Obama because of his skin color, or his religion (whatever that is) and I can't think of, or know of, a single Republican that harbors such feelings. However, I do fear Obama because I believe he is a usurper who has obtained office fraudulently. He was never eligible for the office he holds and because of the stupidity and duplicity of election officials in the several states and the complicity of the major new outlets Obama was never properly vetted and deemed constitutionally eligible for the office of POTUS.
Darrell Lucas April 18, 2012 at 02:20 AM
"I do not hate Obama because of his skin color, or his religion (whatever that is)" Besides the FACT he has been "a committed Christian. He was sworn into the Senate on his family Bible. He has regularly attended church with his wife and daughters for years." You think he is a secret Muslim spy in the making 20 YEARS ago???
Darrell Lucas April 18, 2012 at 02:25 AM
"I believe he is a usurper who has obtained office fraudulently." Explain how he obtained office fraudulently? The same way Bush won the Presidency when he didn't win the popular vote? So you disagree with each of the images posted on the Insider except the one about Obama's legitimacy/experience?

http://www.conservativedailynews.com/2011/09/black-group-sues-democratic-party-for-racial-discriminationdemands-apology-from-obama/ Time to ignore Darrell the attention seeker.
John Brush April 18, 2012 at 03:33 AM
@Pro Death: Interesting and timely information at your link. One hopes that friend Darrell looks into it!
Darrell Lucas April 18, 2012 at 01:26 PM
Hold on there Pro Death. If ignoring is the solution then why did you comment in the first place? Thats usually what radical republicans do when confronted with logic.. they run away and ignore it. I read the article you posted and it was very interesting. Suing for no money just for an apology from the "head" of the democratic party. First, the United States has apologized for slavery. And second, if you do a quick history check you will see that the ideology of the parties have changed since 1792 until now. Democrats in the south would be considers today as republicans. Democrats in the south became Dixiecrats and then just became Republicans. Don't take my word for it research it for yourself. And as for me being an attention seeker well I am flattered. But I would rather you direct your attention to the subject matter I have posted. To which you haven't addressed.

>>What I am referring to is that some Republican supporters make it no secret that they dislike him because of his race. Any "Republican" that feels that way is in the wrong party and we'll gladly show them the door. The Democrats are the party of the KKK.
Darrell Lucas April 19, 2012 at 04:47 AM
ACR , times are always changing. Republicans used to be Liberal ( OMG say it isn't so).. and Democrats conservative. What I want to talk about it today. And yes it's no secret that radical republicans are clear and open about there prejudice
ACR April 19, 2012 at 10:22 AM
After a lifetime of Republican activity, 30+ years on my town committee and 10 on state central; I've never once witnessed what you claim to be the case. I would suggest that the Middletown Patch has a problem.
Heretic April 19, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Darrel thank you for continuing the persecution & stereotype of those who think differently than you- Liberals persecute and judge Conservatives in Middletown Connecticut and claim to be the open-minded party- The Press and Eye have links to Democratic Senators but none for Conservative ones on their pages and claim unbias but no one sees this irony. So what if this Insider blog is bias or not? All Media is Bias Darrel- Cnn, NBC, Fox, NY Times all of it- Go pick on them You spout off online but have you ever applied yourself in person to a real cause? There was a Republican Straw Poll in Middletown last week with over 60 Conservatives in attendance - open to the public- you could have easily gone and had open season on the candidates yourself - and "taken them down" as you say- but alas, you stay fixed. Go to a Council Meeting praise those Democrats who you support and voted for!
DNH April 19, 2012 at 05:19 PM
REPUBLICANS HAVE RUINED THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lisa April 19, 2012 at 05:21 PM
Darrel please join the Middletown Democrats we would LOVE to have YOU!!!!
Thomas April 19, 2012 at 07:50 PM
I used to be a huge Patch fan, until the quality has gone down with this new blogger. Please bring back journalists with integrity and maybe I'll start reading this blog again.
John Brush April 19, 2012 at 07:57 PM
Thomas, I'm not quite sure who you refer to as "this new blogger". Are you talking about the editor or those who comment?
Darrell Lucas April 19, 2012 at 09:33 PM
Thomas I am honored that my blog post is your first comment on Patch... ever. However if your negativity is directed towards me I would like to inform you that I have been blogging and submitting articles to the Middletown Patch since the day it was established. The blog section on patch is objective and anyone can join. Even you can post blogs. Perhaps you can bring back that journalistic integrity you seek. I enjoy all points of view from people. However, I don't tolerate ignorant hate. That goes for a any political party or point of view. I would like to debunk the same material that comes from the left. Wherever it comes from its BS and I don't like it. Don't think that because of this blog post I am a hardcore democratic supporter. I made my voting ballot public and it shows I voted for Republicans, Democrats and other parties. A blog I wrote before this one I supported capping the gas tax. An initiative started by the Republican Len Suzio. I am interested in talking about issues. The insider posted their extreme rhetoric as "something to talk about ". I talked about it. The insider still remains silent on this issue.
Darrell Lucas April 19, 2012 at 10:04 PM
I posted my ballot online for all to see. I voted for 5 republican Common counsel members. I am NOT looking to take anyone down. I am however looking to take down ridiculous hate filled ignorance. It comes from democrats too and I strongly dislike it. I supported Len Suzio's 'Cap the Gas tax'. I am open to suggestions and ideas from everyone. I wont tolerate the BS the Insider posted that Friday the 13th.
Darrell Lucas April 19, 2012 at 10:49 PM
I am a blogger. My views dont reflect Patch.com. You can blog on Patch too. You dont want to see 'the problem' your party has my friend. After the year Johnson signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act. No Republican presidential candidate has gotten more than 15 percent of the black vote since.
Wm Wallace April 19, 2012 at 11:23 PM
Who cares who you voted for in all honesty that is your business and not anyone else, but you continue to throw that out there as some kind of badge of honor. Well how about looking into the budget that is upcoming and how the mayor has asked for a one mill increase. On Wednesday evening at the council budget hearing the board of eduction talked about their budget and councilman Serra talked about a a two mill increase if they get the budget they want. why not report about that since it affects the entire community. No instead you keep waiting for a response from those who run the Middletown insider. If I was them I would ignore you as it seems to get you more upset each and everyday. I for one enjoy watching you on the blog here getting frustrated by there non response from them.
Darrell Lucas April 20, 2012 at 02:08 AM
I just posted my opinion on that matter on the Middletown Insider.. You can read it there.
Darrell Lucas April 20, 2012 at 02:20 AM
Frustrated... You bet I am. The insider posted a hate post on Friday the 13th and they regret it ever since. I laugh.. :-) No response equals cowardliness or they know they are wrong. And OH I am Not upset. In fact I am quite please that such a well spoken blog.. that I enjoy reading is speechless. AND Wm Wallace Welcome to Patch. You are the third commenter on my blog that has NEVER commented before.!! wow. You could be the same person for all I know. So now you dont care that I vote republican.. Well thats great you are loosing legitimacy altogether.. Are you a real person? I bet no. Shake my hand on the 26th and say HI. I know you wont because you are another "drone". You aren't a real Patch commenter. Just another COPY of the same person I have been talking to. I love you... :-)

Reader sent this in: No I post in many different blogs under this name. Like CT Junkie, Middletown Press, Ct Mirror and others including the Middletown Patch. Nice to know you have such a high opinion of yourself that I am all three post you are talking about. He is my question to you. Why would you call out another blog when you are writing on this blog? Seems counter productive if you ask me.
