VIDEO: Motorcycle Mania Award Winners Chosen

More than 8,000 spectators showed up Wednesday to see 4,000 bikes — from which judges chose a handful to give prizes.

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce Motorcycle Mania committee has announced awards given out at the sixth annual Middletown event Wednesday before a crowd of 8,000 spectators: 

  • Vern A. Hunter Vintage Bike Award, in Loving Memory of Barbara M. Hunter, presented by Hunter's Ambulance and Hunter Limousines: Russ Plonski
  • Liberty’s Choice presented by Liberty Bank: Jesse Dube of Berlin 
  • The Haymond Law Award, presented by Haymond Law Office: Keith Myrich
  • The Gengras Elite Award presented by Gengras Motorcycles: Jim Adamowicz
  • The Sparkling Clean Award presented by ServPro Middletown / New Britain: Ken Clark of North Haven
  • Main Drag Award, presented by Downtown Business District: Doug Gagnon Jr. of Middletown
  • Best Home Team Motorcycle presented by Home Team Supply: Tony of Vindicator Cycles, from Middletown
  • The Mayor’s Choice presented by Middletown Mayor Sebastian Giuliano: AJ Boraski

Judges chose the recipients from a field of nearly 4,000 motorcycles. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Middletown Mentor Program as well as various youth programs administered by Middletown’s Parks and Recreation Department.

“Big thanks to the City of Middletown and its Public Works, Police, and Fire departments for giving us the event-day support that we needed to make Motorcycle Mania 2011 such a great success,” said Chamber president Larry McHugh.
