Unions, Advocacy Group Support Drew for Mayor

Nader and Moffett's citizens action group and workers unions endorse Democratic candidate.

Dan Drew, Democratic candidate for mayor of Middletown, was endorsed Monday by the Connecticut Citizen Action Group and SEIU Locals 511 and 506 and CWA Local 1298.

“I’m pleased to have the endorsement of these four groups in my campaign for mayor,” said Drew. “Our public and private sector workers play a critical role in meeting our community needs, supporting our local economy and maintaining our quality of life.

"CCAG has worked on behalf of all citizens for the past four decades. I want to bring responsive city government to Middletown, and I’m proud to have earned this support.”

“Dan Drew gets it. Dan Drew has the proper focus on jobs, economic development and growth to move the citizens of Middletown and Connecticut forward in these difficult times.” Said William Henderson, CWA Local 1298 President.

“After considering both candidates’ records, SEIU Locals 511 and 506 have endorsed Dan Drew,” said Jim Vigue, political director for CEUI SEIU Local 511 and MEUI SEIU Local 506. “We look forward to working with Dan. We are confident that he will continue to work for working families not only in Middletown but across the region and state.

CCAG was founded by Ralph Nader and Toby Moffett in 1970. According to its website, "whether the issue is quality, affordable health care, better democracy, consumer protection, the environment, or ending a senseless war, citizen action is critical."
