Sweet Harmony Bakery Takes Over Javapalooza

For nine years, Sweet Harmony Bakery was housed in the green Victorian at 158 Broad Street in Middletown. When it closed up shop late last December, owners Tran Trang and J.C. Gaither sought a new place downtown.

By February, Sweet Harmony's baked goods were being sold at O'Rourke's Diner and in May, when the owner of Javapalooza was looking to sell her popular coffeehouse and eatery, Sweet Harmony stepped in.

While the Javapalooza sign is still up at 330 Main Street, Laura Paige of Sweet Harmony says a replacement will be hung by this weekend.

Changes are afoot, Paige says, including all baked goods made in house, crepes with fresh ingredients and turkey and roast beef cooked on the premises, but the focus on good coffee — like Jamaican Me Crazy — will remain.
