Miss USA Touts Vecchittos Italian Ice in Boston for Komen Race for Cure

Middletown's Italian ice purveyor got national attention when East Hampton native Erin Brady promoted her Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and tried her favorite cool treat in Boston.

Middletown's favorite Italian ice purveyor got some world-class attention this past weekend when East Hampton native, Miss USA Erin Brady, took a break from her Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to enjoy a Vecchittos Italian Ice in Boston.

Vecchittos participated in the charity event by providing Italian ice at the New Balance store on Boylston Street in Boston on Sept. 26.

The event was to promote the Susan B. Koman Race for the Cure in Boston this weekend. Erin, born and raised in Connecticut, is a longtime customer of Vecchittos Italian Ice and invited us to participate in the event.

Brady won this year's Miss USA title and will represent the nation on Nov. 9 at the Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, Russia. She is the first woman from Connecticut ever to be crowned Miss USA.

In July, A large crowd greeted the 25-year-old pageant winner with cheers and support during a visit at her alma mater, Portland High School.

Brady, 25, who is originally from East Hampton, got the crown — and a year in a New York apartment — after telling judges that she agreed with the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold widespread DNA testing.

She is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
