Middletown's Dunkin Donuts Moving North on Main to Bigger Space

After 15 years in Metro Square, the popular coffee franchise is relocating next to Itkin's Decorators in late February.

The desire for larger retail space has prompted the city's Dunkin Donuts at 170-1 Main Street in Metro Square to move north on Main toward Washington Street to a portion of the old Bob's Stores building.

This new location, set to open at the end of February, according to management, will join Middletown's three others on Newfield, South Main and Washington street — all of which are drive-throughs.

"There will now be just one location near Washington Street and another new business [coming into the Metro Square spot] but it hasn’t been confirmed what the new establishment is," according to Downtown Business District Executive Director Quentin Phipps.

While Metro Square Dunkin management was unclear on the size of its current space, the 423 Main Street location will occupy a third of the former A New World Laser Tag's 16,000 square feet — using 2,140 square feet of space, according to Trevor Davis, commercial real estate agent.

The move will mean Brew Bakers at 169 Main Street will be the southernmost coffee shop on Main Street and places Dunkin Donuts closer to its competition owned by small business owners — Javapalooza at 330 Main Street, Klekolo World Coffee on Court Street, and The New England Emporium in Main Street Market.
