David P. Gallitto, vice president of Sterling Realtors in Middletown has been named Realtor of the Year by his peers who are members of the Middlesex-Shoreline Association of Realtors.
Gallitto, a director and treasurer of the association, received the award at the association’s September gathering in Guilford. He has been with Sterling Realtors for the last 12 years and was presented with a desktop plaque and clock by President Edward Pellegrino.
The Middlesex-Shoreline Association of Realtors represents 1,000 realtors in Middlesex County and in the shoreline towns of New Haven and New London Counties from Branford to Lyme. Each year, the association selects one of its members to be honored as Realtor of the Year based on a number of factors, including the recipient’s service to real estate organizations and his or her record of community service.
The award marks the second time Gallitto has been honored for his work as a realtor. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Mary Elllen Klinck Real Estate Agent of the Year award presented by the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.
Gallitto, a graduate of Notre Dame University and Middletown native, holds office in many community and real estate organizations at the local and state level. He has been a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners for Middletown’s South Fire District since 2002 and has served as commission chairman for the past seven years.
In January, he was named as a director of the Connecticut Association of Realtors and since 2011 he has been vice chair of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce Real Estate Council. He is on the chamber’s Board of Directors.
Gallitto is a governing board member of the Northern Middlesex YMCA and vice president of the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame. He's taught financial literacy to Middletown High School students and took part in the shadow mentoring program for students at Middlesex Community College, as well as coaches youth soccer.
