Amtrak Cancels Acela Service Between Boston and New York Through Sunday
Amtrak passengers should expect delays of up to 90 minutes, according to a statement.

The ongoing commercial power problem in southern Connecticut has led Amtrak to cancel its Acela Express service between Boston and New York through Sunday, according to a service alert on its website.
Amtrak said in the statement that additional cars have been added to Northeast Regional trains “to accommodate Acela Express passengers traveling between New York and Boston.”

Passengers should expect delays of up to 90 minutes due to the continued diesel operation, according to the statement.
“Amtrak is coordinating with Metro-North Railroad and local authorities, and will resume normal operations as quickly and safely as possible when advised that power is restored,” the statement says. “A determination on Acela Express service for Monday, September 30, will be made when additional information is available.”

Amtrak said in the statement that passengers who have paid but choose not to travel due the service disruption may receive a refund or a voucher for future travel. Some reservations booked online can also be modified or canceled on Amtrak.com or by using the Amtrak mobile app.
