20K-Square-Foot Medical Office Building Coming to Saybrook Road

Heritage Medical Center is expected to open in 2012.

Mayor Sebastian N. Giuliano has announced another new business is expected to open in 2012 in Middletown.

Medical Development Associates will construct a 20,000 square foot medical office building at the Saybrook Road Heritage Medical Center.

Heritage Medical Center is located in the Saybrook Road Medical Corridor – home to Middlesex Hospital Outpatient Center and over 300,000 square feet of medical office buildings. The corridor has added jobs and significant growth in the grand list over the years.

“Construction of this new building is further testimony that Middletown is and remains an attractive business location. Middletown is known as a regional center for health care services and this new building will expand those services to our community and all of Middlesex County,” Giuliano said.

Frank Galluzzo, a principal in Medical Development Associates, announced he is moving forward with the construction of the new offices due to the strength of Middletown’s economy and the needs of his existing tenants.  The new building will expand the Heritage Medical Center where two 40,000 square foot medical office buildings currently exist.

20,000 square foot medical office building will add approximately $1.75 million to the Grand List when completed in 2012. The new building will also generate significant personal property taxes on equipment and will also generate construction jobs and new, permanent employment opportunities in the medical field.

“People come to the medical corridor from all over the region. I am sure that doctors, staffs and patients come into the downtown for lunches and dinners. We continue to expand the four corners of our community with smart development that has allowed us to remain solvent during these difficult economic times.

"I am pleased that in my term as mayor we have managed to remain a stable, viable community which has given our residents tax relief,” Giuliano added.
