Two Great Beer Events to Catch Before Summer Ends

Re-posted from my blog: Malted Musings.

In the middle of the summer it can be easy to overlook beer events. After all, you have BBQ's, parties, games, and a lot of lazing around to do! However, the summer is one of the best times (besides fall) for beer events as you can actually get outside and enjoy the weather! If you don't know what to do or where to go to get a good craft beer, check out the CT Beer Trail site for a great, up-to-date list of events that you can look forward to. I have taken it upon myself, however, to showcase two such beer events that are coming down the line soon and look like a lot of fun!

The first event is actually a series of events, and one that I look forward to in my neck of the woods every year. That's right, I'm talking about Eli Cannon's Beer Gods Week. This is a week (from August 4th - 8th) of wall-to-wall beer activities that seem to get larger and more exciting every year. If you can't check out the bar every day for an entire week, I would highly recommend at least hitting up the beer fest that kicks the week off. I go out of my way to attend this function every year, and every year it gets bigger and more exciting! Last year there ended up being around 200 people in attendance with around 35 breweries on the premises (which was tripled from the year previous). This was also the first time I got to check out the great Stubborn Beauty Brewing Company. This year Eli's is boasting more than 40 breweries, live music, multiple food trucks and (for the first time ever) live music! The best part is that a portion of the proceeds go to the Middlesex YMCA, so you can feel good about trying a ton of craft and local beer! This event is August 4th, from 5 PM to 9 PM and it should be a ridiculously good time.

The next event that I would love to get out to is a good ol' fashioned beer run. No, not grabbing some more beer for your college buddies, but an actual running race mixed with some great Two Roads beer at the finish line. This three mile road race will take you down Short Beach in Stratford, CT, and end up with you kicking back and enjoying some refreshing Two Roads beer at the finish line. The entry price includes a lot of sweet looking swag, so get yourself registered and run & drink for a good cause; this event will benefit the Connecticut Audubon Society. Race day is August 24th. This one looks great as a beer is always twice as refreshing when you feel like you've earned it.

There are constantly more events being added on the CT Beer Trail, and I will continue featuring events on my blog as well. Don't let summer pass you by without you taking part in at least some of the great beer activities going on around your hometown!
