Middletown Firefighters in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Firefighters teamed up with Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center this year in an effort to bring awareness to all types of cancers that affect residents.

The Middletown Fire Department and Middletown Firefighters Local 1073 has jumped onboard for cancer awareness for the fourth consecutive year.

Firefighters teamed up with Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center this year in an effort to bring awareness to all types of cancers that affect residents. Over the past few years, Middletown Firefighters have raised more than $5,000 to help fight the cause.

The Middletown Fire Department is wearing pink uniform shirts for the entire month of October. The fire apparatus will be sporting a different look as all of the Department’s apparatus are adorned with pink ribbons. The firehouses have banners that state: City of Middletown, “Care Enough to Wear Pink."

Cancer is the second leading killer today in the United States with almost 1,600 peoples a day succumbing to its deadly advances. Early detection is the key.

The Department and the Union would like to thank the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and TLM Industries for their support in this cause. Pink t-shirts may be purchased for a donation of $20 at Middletown Fire Headquarters, 533 Main Street, or at Mallove’s Jewelers, 404 Main Street in Middletown. The department has women’s and men’s shirts available in most sizes.
