Ebony and Ivory NoRA Cupcakes Benefit Breast Cancer Center

'Because cancer is colorblind,' goes the tag line for these chocolate or vanilla masterpieces filled with strawberry puree and chocolate or vanilla frosting at Middletown's cupcakery.

The creativity of Middletown's NoRA Cupcake Co. has resulted in a pair of tiny cakes being sold over the next five days to benefit the Middlesex Hospital Comprehensive Breast Center through its GoPink Project.

Dubbed Ebony and Ivory cakes — and available for purchase in a pair, quartet or singly — these miniature breasts are on sale through Oct. 20, according to the NoRA Cupcake Co., "because cancer is colorblind."

NoRA Cupcake Co. Owner Carrie Carella says customers are being encouraged to purchase the desserts in pairs. "Why would you buy one?" she says. Fifty percent of all proceeds will be donated to the GoPink Project. The first day, she said, sales were going very well.

They're available in chocolate cake or vanilla cake, both filled with strawberry puree, frosted with chocolate or vanilla frostings.
