Chanukah Festival Open to Entire Community

This month, there are many opportunities to get involved with Christian organizations doing good across Connecticut.

The Chabad Jewish Center has announced plans to host a free, open-to-all holiday event at Union Park in Middletown.

The program, celebrating the festival of Chanukah, will be held on the fourth evening of the holiday – Tuesday, December 11, at 6:00pm. You are invited [Union Park is located at the Corner of Main Street and Pleasant Street, across from Rite Aid].

“We invite the entire community to participate in the festivities,” said Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky, of Chabad. “Chanukah celebrates the religious freedom of all.” In addition to the kindling of a giant, 9-foot Menorah candelabra, hot cider and warm potato “Latkes” (pancakes) will be served. There will also be festive music and free raffles.

Children and adults are welcome to this free special celebration. For more information, or Chanukah in general, call Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky at (860) 659-2422, email Rabbi@ChabadER.com, or log on to www.ChabadER.com

We're a Christian family that celebrates Hanukkah now instead of Christmas. We just find Hanukkah more meaningful to us. We are very excited about this event!
