Learn MiddletownRemix Dance for May 11 Flash Mob

The dance, created by a Wesleyan student, can be seen in an instructional video that offers easy moves to accompany a commissioned piece by North End resident DJ Arun Ranganathan.

The yearlong Wesleyan University MiddletownRemix project — in which the sounds of the city have been captured by smartphone users of all ages — will culminate next weekend with a giant musical celebration.

An exciting flash mob is planned for the free MiddletownRemix: Hear More, See More Festival on May 11, based on a dance created by a Wesleyan student, whose instructional video offers easy and funky moves to accompany a commissioned piece by North End resident DJ Arun Ranganathan.

The dance, demonstrated here in this YouTube video, was choreographed by Kelsey Siegel, a Wesleyan senior. The event will take place May 11 at 2:30 p.m., in front of It's Only Natural Market (575 Main Street, Middletown).
Arun has been commissioned to create a 30-minute remix based on the sounds of MiddletownRemix, which will be performed live at both 2 and 4 p.m. on the main sound stage outside of It’s Only Natural Market, interspersed with remixes by Wesleyan student DJs.

For the festival schedule and to capture, contribute and remix sounds from Wesleyan and Middletown using the free UrbanRemix app for iPhone/iOS and Android devices, visit http://www.middletownremix.org
