Mayor’s Office, CRT Team Up for Child Abuse Prevention Day April 12

Children’s March and Flag-Raising to Raise Awareness in Middletown

  • Special Event – 10-11 a.m., April 12, Middletown South Green (near Union and S. Main St. intersection)
  • Children’s rally/ march along Main St.
  • Residents, business representatives, media members are welcome

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, Middletown Mayor Daniel Drew and Community Renewal Team (CRT) will host a special event on Middletown’s South Green at 10:00 a.m. on April 12.

Supporters for the 4th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Day will raise a flag in the park along with more than 100 school children from CRT’s preschool classrooms. The public is cordially invited and all will have the chance to “Make a Pledge to End Child Abuse” through pledge cards.

“This 4th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Day sends a powerful and hopeful message that it’s up to us as adults and community members to take a stand against abuse and to protect our children,” said CRT President and CEO Lena Rodriguez.

The event runs from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and attendees are invited to meet near the intersection of Union and S. Main Street in downtown Middletown. Remarks to follow by: Middletown Mayor Daniel Drew, State Senator Len Suzio, Children’s Trust Fund Director Karen Foley-Schain, Child Advocate Mickey Kramer, CRT’s ECE Director Emilie Montgomery and more.
