'The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow' Selected for 'One Book, One Middletown'

The first event for this community-wide reading program is a booksigning with the author on March 22.

The Middletown Rotary Club is sponsoring the One Book, One Middletown literacy project for the 12th year and the kick off for the community reading of The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow is set for next week.

According to the Rotary, "We join with the City of MiddletownRussell Library and other area libraries and partners. The goal of One Book is simple ... to get a lot of people in the area to read the same book at the same time and then encourage them to talk about it.  By doing so, we hope that more people (especially more young people) will enjoy reading."

The story is about a young boy, Bonaventure, whose silence is filled with resonance - a miraculous gift of rarified hearing that encompasses the Universe of Every Single Sound. That gift allows him to hear flowers grow, a thousand shades of blue, and the gentle voice of his father, William Arrow, shot dead before Bonaventure was born by a mysterious stranger known only as the Wanderer.

Author Rita Leganski will sign copies of her book The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow at 2 p.m., March 22 at Broad Street Books.
