Snow, Freezing Rain Sleet Headed to Middletown for Messy AM Commute

There's some nasty weather on the horizon for Connecticut — beginning with a wintry mix late Sunday through Monday morning.

The weather outside is turning frightful for Middletown and other parts of Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service, beginning Sunday night.

The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 10 a.m. Monday with snow, sleet and freezing rain expected — up to 1-2 inches in spots. Snow begins Sunday evening and is expected to turn to freezing rain overnight.
Driving will be treacherous through Monday morning, especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated roads, according to the alert.

SUNDAY: Snow likely before midnight, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet between midnight and 5am, then snow and freezing rain after 5am. Low around 28. Northeast wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

MONDAY: Rain, freezing rain, and sleet, becoming all rain after 2pm. High near 43. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

MONDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

TUESDAY: A chance of light snow, mainly between 9am and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
