Middletown Couple's Ring Wrapper Vying for Walmart Contest Prize

A local couple's invention that would protect a ring from damage is being considered in Walmart's "Get on the Shelf" competition.

Ever worry about losing your wedding ring or having it damaged? One Middletown couple has a solution: the Ring Wrapper.

The couple, Mike and Karen Folcik, of Middletown, created the idea of a protective band that would be placed over a ring and has since created a business selling Ring Wrappers all over the world, The Middletown Press reported.

“It’s for whenever you’re worried about your ring,” Karen Folcik told the Press. “Whether you’re going to the gym or swimming or to the beach. It keeps sunblock from getting into the ring.

The couple submitted their product in a YouTube video to Walmart's "Get on the Shelf" 2013 competition and consumers can vote on the idea as it compares to some other entries.

If they win, then Walmart will start stocking their shelves with the Folcik's Ring Wrappers. You can vote in the competition here.
