Messenger Victim's Family Suing to Prevent Temporary Leave Hearing

David Messenger, who was committed to Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown 2001 for 20 years, is due for a Psychiatric Security Review Board May 3.

The family of a woman killed by her husband, who was later acquitted by reason of insanity, is seeking an emergency order to prohibit the state board that oversees the killer's psychiatric care from holding a May hearing where he could be granted additional freedom, according to the Hartford Courant article, "Family Of David Messenger's Victim Says Its Rights Violated."

Messenger beat his pregnant wife to death in 1998 in their Chaplin home. He was acquitted by reason of insanity and committed to Connecticut Valley Hospital. He's served half of his 20-year sentence.
