Knights Candy Drive Nets $5,000 for Intellectually Disabled

The Cromwell Knights of Columbus October Tootsie Roll sales benefited five area organizations that help people with intellectual disabilities.

 

The Knights of Columbus, Council 6, Cromwell, annual Tootsie Roll Drive held at the Cromwell Stop & Shop in October raised nearly $5,000 for local organizations that help people with intellectual disabilities.

In all, $900 was awarded to the Connecticut Special Olympics, and the remaining $4,000 was donated to: Camp Sunrise, the Challenger Little League Baseball League, the Manes and Motion program overseen by Cromwell Parks and Recreation and MARC Community Resources of Middletown.

Camp Sunrise is a summer recreational program for special needs children ages 3-21 with physical, intellectual, developmental, and/or other health impairments serving the towns of Glastonbury, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Newington and Cromwell.
