Do You Use Facebook Less Than You Did a Year Ago?

Middletown Patch's Facebook likes have increased but we're wondering if you visiting this social platform as often as you have in the past.

Facebook had 1.1 billion worldwide users at the end of March — up 23 percent from the same time last year — and reported other positive signs of growth.

However, one social media analyst suggested that the iconic site has lost 9 million monthly visitors in the U.S. in the last six months, and experienced drops in other parts of the world. That may only reflect PC users and not mobile, however.

According to the Huffington Post, "Facebook has seen a drop in unique visitors in the U.S. from March 2012 to March 2013 — on desktop — from 152.8 million to 142.1 million. But on mobile, use of Facebook's app has skyrocketed from 62 million uniques to 99 million uniques for that same time period. In other words, the data merely reflects a shift from desktop to mobile, and it may even suggest Facebook is gaining users."

Some media sites — like Middletown Patch — offer stories on multiple platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, and garner a lot of story feedback there.

Meanwhile, younger generations spend more time on texting applications, Twitter, Instagram and other social sites.

Are you spending less time on Facebook than before, and if so, why? Let us know in the comments section.
