The Connecticut Wine Festival, The Durham Fair & The Rust'd Keys

A few years back I performed music at The Stone House at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford, Connecticut.  It was for some type of benefit; don’t recall all the particulars.  But what really floored me, as I recall, was that it had taken me fifty years to stumble upon what might well be the most beautiful spot in all of Connecticut.  The Stone House, built of stone and old timbers, is a very comfortable little joint where one can sample the vineyard’s wines, eat and listen to some lovely music- like mine.  More importantly (I think), the House rests sits atop one of the most beautiful vistas you’ll ever see- a sight so romantic you’ll fall in love with whoever you’re with, whether you want to or not.  I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to get booked there again ever since, just so’s I can have another look around at those rolling hills that’ve been my home all my life.

Gouveia Vineyard is just one of the Connecticut wineries that will be represented this coming weekend, as The Durham Fair (for the first time ever) hosts The Connecticut Wine Festival.  And it just so happens that Diane Kozikowski & I- aka The Rust’d Keys- will be preforming on the Green Stage at said festival, Sunday afternoon (9/29/13), starting around noontime.  We’ll be performing a rich array of songs, some old, some new, some borrowed and blue, blending early jazz/pop influences with modern acoustic sensibilities (as only she and I can do).  So please, make a stop at The Connecticut Wine Festival this coming Sunday at The Durham Fair.  Check us out over a glass of Connecticut’s own.  And while you’re there don’t forget to scope out the roosters and the chickens and the bunnies and the oxen and the fried dough and the sausage sandwiches and the cotton candy.  It’s The Durham Fair, after all.  It’s history.
