NBC Connecticut's MILES FOR SMILES airline mile donation drive to benefit Make-A-Wish® Connecticut on January 10th

Make-A-Wish® Connecticut has partnered with NBC Connecticut for the first MILES FOR SMILES Campaign to benefit the Make-A-Wish Wishes in FlightSM Airline Miles Donation Program. On January 10th from 6am – 7pm on January 10th, Make-A-Wish will be on air with NBC Connecticut in their West Hartford studios, promoting the campaign and taking phone calls to collect airline mile donations.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1986, Make-A-Wish Connecticut has granted over 2,300 wishes to children throughout the state.

“Over 70% of the wishes we grant involve air travel, and donated airline miles can help us offset thousands of dollars in travel costs each year,” stated Michael Dominick, Community & Media Relations Manager for Make-A-Wish Connecticut. “This is a great need for us as an organization, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with NBC Connecticut in an effort to raise 1 million miles on January 10th. If we all pitch in, together we can make a significant impact on so many children whose wishes will soon come true.”

With a campaign goal of 1 million miles, people from all over are encouraged to take part in the campaign and donate their unused airline miles.

“Donating air miles is fast and easy, and the miles donated never expire once they’re in the Foundation’s account,” continued Dominick. “Donating unused airline miles is a great way for supporters to help us grant children’s wishes and give them an experience that improves the quality of life for them and their families.”

About Make-A-Wish® Connecticut

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away—the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish Kids often choose something that will inspire happiness, and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,300 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
