MxCC Ranked One of the Safest Colleges in the State

Middlesex Community College has been ranked number five in Connecticut for college campus safety in a recent survey conducted by StateUniversity.com.

To compile the list, StateUniversity.com utilized Cleary and FBI data to analyze 1,407 colleges and universities to assign safety ratings. The assigned ratings are based on the following criteria: number of weapon occurrences, drugs, burglary, vehicle theft, arson, larceny, robbery, forcible and non-forcible rape, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, and aggravated assault.

“The safety and security of staff, students and visitors to Middlesex Community College is a top priority,” said David Sykes, dean of Finance and Administration.  “We work to continuously improve our ability to provide a safe working and learning environment.”

MxCC has many initiatives to ensure the safety of the campus community stemming from the Dean of Finance and Administration Office.  The College uses a notification system that delivers critical information in the event of an emergency by text message to students and employees. The College also has an emergency broadcast system that delivers voicemail to all employees on campus.

Security is provided twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week when classes are in session by a combination of security officers and staff.  In addition, security cameras are installed in the parking lots and at the entrances to each building.
