“Being awarded the equipment grant is huge for Middletown” said Heather Iaderosa, President of Middletown Youth Lacrosse. “Middletown youth lacrosse believes players interested in playing lacrosse should be given the opportunity to do so. The equipment grants enables us the opportunity to loan lacrosse equipment to players who want to play lacrosse, but may not able to purchase their own equipment.  For more information on how to apply for this grant, please email middletownyouthlacrosse @gmail.com or come to the in-person registration session on January 22nd.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States. Played predominantly in the spring, lacrosse is a great complimentary sport to other sports: the endurance of soccer; the defense and shooting of basketball; stick work and speed from hockey and for the boys in the older grades the physical aspect of football. It’s a great way to stay in shape for soccer during the off season; condition for football; and hone in on those basketball skills and keep that stick work going for hockey. But you don’t have to have all these to play.

For those not sure what lacrosse is about our Junior and Senior boys teams are participating in a winter in-door league at Advanced Sports Plex. Our senior team, consisting of 7th & 8th graders, are playing at 6:50pm and our junior team consisting of 5th & 6th graders have at game at 8:40pm.

The Middletown Youth Lacrosse League is part of the Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse organization and will play teams within the league. There are four levels of play. “Lightning” which is an in-house league consisting of both boys and girls in first and second grade who will play each other in games. As players reach third grade, they are split into a boys league and a girls league: Bantam (3-4 grade); Junior (5-6 grade); and Senior (7-8) grade. Bantam, Junior and Senior teams will play their games against surrounding towns within the Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse (CVYL) league.
