MxCC has joined the American Association of Community Colleges’ (AACC) SEED (Sustainability Education and Economic Development) initiative.
SEED’s resources will help support MxCC’s new Strategic Plan priority of “Sustainability.” These valuable resources will help provide guidelines, directions, and best practices experienced by other community colleges as we form plans of our own.
From the SEED website: SEED is the first national resource center and networking tool devoted to supporting community colleges in building quality green workforce development programs. SEED stems from an AACC Board of Directors directive to support and inspire all community colleges to encourage sustainability practices and prepare students and workers for high-growth careers in the emerging green economy. For community colleges, "green" is really about comprehensive change - making sustainability a guiding principal for all institutional educational offerings and practices. This means campuses moving toward carbon neutrality, integrating sustainability into campus operations, and developing quality green job training opportunities for students and workers. The SEED Center serves to educate and foster collaboration among educational institutions and training providers responsible for preparing a skilled workforce.
