Register for Citizens Bank 5K Summer Fun Run

Are you a runner? If so, there is still time to register for the 5K Summer Fun Run taking place on July 18. The event is sponsored by Citizens Bank, The , Downtown Business District, Northern Middlesex YMCA and Oddfellows Playhouse.

Even if you’re not a runner, the event features lots of family fun like street performers, Art Farms Circus for a Fragile planet, a moonwalk,  giant slide and extended hours at Kidcity Children’s Museum. Music by will be playing throughout the festivities and dancing entertainment will be provided.

Cost of registration is $28 for the 5K. Entry fees for children are waived courtesy of the Middletown Federation of Teachers. All children who enter will receive a complimentary single use pass for Kidcity Children’s Museum. Proceeds from this event will benefit the community through donations to The Northern Middlesex Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA, Amazing Grace, Art Farm and more.

Racers are invited to participate as individuals or a team. The winning team gets to display the Pratt and Whitney team trophy until next year’s event. All participants are asked to bring donations of school supplies (backpacks, crayons, erasers, colored pencils, child-safe scissors, washable markers, spiral notebooks, rulers, pencils, pens, pencil boxes, pocket folders or glue sticks) to benefit the Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents. 

All supplies will be distributed through the Citizens Bank Gear for Grades program and go to children in need throughout the state. All donors will be entered in a drawing for random prizes.

Race Day Schedule is as follows:

 4:30 p.m.                Packet Pickup & Race Day Registration (in front of                              Citizens Bank, Main St)

6:30 p.m.                ½ Mile Kid’s Fun Run

6:45 p.m.                5K Road Race

7:00-8:00 p.m.       Post Race Celebration

7:30 p.m.               Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male & female finishers: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ and Wheelchair.  The first male & female Middletown resident will also receive awards.  All finishers of the Kids Run receive ribbons.

Tech T-shirts will be given to the first 500 5K entrants and the first 150 participants in the Kids Run will receive t-shirts. Showers will be available after the race at the Middlesex County YMCA and all participants are invited to enjoy a post-race snack.
