Vinal Tech Grad, 19, Killed in N.H. Construction Accident

Ben Foisie, of Lyndeborough, N.H., would have turned 20 on Wednesday. He was helping his family build their dream home when a 16-foot granite block fell on him Friday morning.

A 19-year-old Vinal Tech graduate was killed Friday morning when a large piece of granite fell on him during a home construction project in Lyndeborough, N.H., according to the Nashua Telegraph.

Benjamin Foisie was found pinned by a 16-foot-tall granite block, police and fire officals, say, the Telegraph reports. He was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.

According to the Union Leader, Lt. Rainsford Deware III, the officer in charge of the Lyndeborough Police Department, said Foisie was marking a position on the ground for a granite boulder that was part of the landscaping in the front yard of the house being built.

An excavator was holding the 16-foot-high boulder up, Union Leader reports, but the ground below, softened from rain and snow, shifted and the boulder fell onto Foisie, pinning him underneath. His internal injuries were fatal, police say.

Foisie graduated in 2011 from Vinal Technical High School in Middletown, and was attending Nashua Community College. He would have turned 20 on Nov. 14. In January 2009, when Foisie was a 10th-grader, he was named to the Vinal High Honor Roll.

Dozens of friends have been leaving messages of shock and condolence on Foisie's Facebook wall since 6 p.m. Friday.
